Changsha Wangcheng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as “Wangcheng Petrochemical”) was founded in 1987, originally known as the Changsha Wangcheng Petrochemical Plant. It is a national-level high-tech enterprise specializing in the R&D, production, and sales of lubricant and grease additives.
Over the past four decades, the company has consistently focused on technological breakthroughs and domestic substitution in key upstream segments of the industrial chain, achieving significant advancements in core areas such as extreme-pressure and anti-wear additives and oiliness agents. As a result, it has grown into a leading manufacturer of specialty additives in the Central-South region. Leveraging its robust technological expertise and product capabilities, the company has been recognized as a National Science-and-Technology-Based SME, a National Innovative SME, a Hunan Provincial New Materials Enterprise, and a Key Manufacturing Enterprise for Industry-Finance Cooperation in Hunan Province. It has also established long-term strategic partnerships with major enterprises such as China National Petroleum Corporation and Sinopec.
The company is located in the Tongguan Circular Economy Industrial Base of the Wangcheng Economic Development Zone in Hunan Province. Since successfully introducing its first additive—sulfurized olefin cottonseed oil (T405 and T405A)—in 1987, and with the ongoing support of the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation Research Institute of Petroleum Processing, the company has made a pivotal leap from technology import to independent innovation. It has consistently focused on the core single-additive segment of lubricant and grease technology and steadfastly advanced domestic substitution. To date, the company has established a comprehensive single-additive product portfolio covering oiliness agents, friction modifiers, extreme-pressure and anti-wear additives, antioxidant–extreme-pressure additives, and metal deactivators. In recent years, the company has achieved significant technological breakthroughs in high-end single additives such as organic molybdenum and synthetic esters, with product performance reaching industry-leading levels, thereby laying a solid foundation for the strategic expansion from single additives to composite formulations.
